Floris UMC Rolling Announcements Restructure: Defining Purpose + Process
Redesigned pre-service screen content into a storytelling and engagement tool with a system for updates and tracking.
Year :
2024
Industry :
Non-Profit
Client :
Floris UMC
Project Duration :
1 year
Challenge:
Pre-service screens were underutilized, often functioning as static reminders rather than engagement tools. Congregants reported “background noise,” and the lack of process for updates meant content quickly became outdated or irrelevant.
Strategy:
I transformed rolling announcements into interactive, story-driven communications:
Reduced slides to 5 priority items per service to maintain focus.
Introduced storytelling techniques to convey event relevance, community impact, or spiritual alignment.
Added QR codes for featured events to enable immediate engagement and measurable interaction.
Implemented an update process and template library for staff to maintain consistency and efficiency.
Measured engagement through click-through rates and adjusted content accordingly.
Results:
Introduced QR codes with 15–20% scan rate on featured events
Reduced slide clutter, limiting to 5 priority slides per service
Increased relevance & reduced “background noise” perception
Campaign Summary:
Transforming rolling screen announcements into concise, story-driven content with interactive elements (like QR codes) increased congregant engagement and reduced “background noise.” The systemized process ensures relevance, maintainability, and measurable results for future services.
